romantic summer wedding at Highlands Ranch Mansion

Suzanna and Salvador were wed at the beautiful Highlands Ranch Mansion on a warm summer day in July.

The Highlands Ranch Mansion offers a truly special guest experience. With access to the entire property, cocktail hour shifts from a waiting game to an opportunity to explore. It’s a beautiful venue and while there’s plenty of opportunity to add your own flair, there isn’t a need to “cover up” lackluster settings.

The day was full of meaningful moments including a knot tying ceremony, a letter read aloud from Salvador’s mother, and a song sung by Suzanna. Suzanna’s grandfather and a friend of the couple officiated the ceremony.

July in Colorado comes with some unique weather challenges for outdoor weddings. You might get a downpour, you might get a hailstorm, you might get a blistering hot day, you might get all three. It’s important to work with vendors who can adapt and make adjustments as necessary.

For Suzanna and Salvador’s wedding I knew the rain plan was to hold the ceremony in the Solarium and that the arch design could easily be transferred if needed. It was also important to choose flowers and greenery that could stand up to intense heat. With a ceremony on an open lawn in the afternoon, I knew ceremony flowers would be under harsh conditions for a few hours. Proper hydration and flower choices were key to creating an installation piece that wouldn’t wither by the time the ceremony started.

Check out our blog post on bouquet preservation to see how Suzanna chose to artfully preserve her wedding bouquet for a beautiful keepsake.
